X Rated Ann Summers Factor

Ann Summers model or is that a dummy or is the dummy a model and the model a dummy.....

Ann Summers, that very English adult retailer, has launched the latest of its “find the face of Ann Summers”. It’s a pretty desperate attempt at a very English X –rated X-Factor.

It was done in house and it shows. It looks amateurish. I’m watched this several times, purely in the name of research you’ll understand, and I still can’t get excited about any of it. The women are less attractive and less sexy than someone you would meet in a bar or at a meeting – fully dressed!

The Ann Summers is a brand which has amazed me from a point of view of why anyone would want to shop there. If you want exceptional lingerie there are a million brands from La Perla to Chantelle, if you want mass market lingerie there is La Senza and brands like Triumph and if you want lingerie to never have sex in there is always Marks and Spencer…….if you want sex toys there is

Showing how it should be done....La Perla....you get what you pay for

the web, apparently, so I’m told, huhm, moving on.

Judging by You Tube these look like the least sexy events with the least sexy girls ever found on planet earth.....

So why would you ever need to visit Ann Summers? Or perish the thought let them visit you? Have you seen some of the Ann Summers parties on You Tube? That’s enough to put you off the brand for life.

These new adverts and their search for a new “star” would certainly never make you warm to the brand or feel it was at all aspirational or attractive, or even the slightest bit sexy. If you can’t make a sex retailer sexy you’re really in trouble. This cheap stunt of recruiting a new face for the brand in an X-Factor copycat looks like a tired marketing trick from a desperate brand trying to claw back market share on the high street while being walloped on line. A

complete turn off.

Totally agree.  Also, whilst it’s nice to have ‘real people’ in the ad, the production values are al rather homespun – a lot like the quality of the product as it goes…

agreed Martin, so would people buy the product? it becomes anti-advertising!
